Miss Shayna has over 30 years of dance experience with a strong focus on pre-professional and competitive dance. She began her dance training under her mother, Helene Joy Chapman at the early age of 2. Her passion for dance grew immensely and by the age of 14 was selected to tour the country with the Dance Olympus faculty and performed in the closing show in each city.
By the time she was 17 years old, Shayna was teaching at the YMCA, local elementary schools as well as her mother’s dance studio - Helene Joy School of Dance. She continued to teach dance to multiple dance studios in Massachusetts for several years, building her dance resume and touching the lives of thousands of students she had the pleasure of working with. After winning a national dance competition in 2007 with her self-choreographed solo, she was awarded the "Future Star Award" and was featured in Dance Spirit Magazine.
In 2011, Shayna became the Company Director of the On Your Toes Dance & Theatre Company in Acton, MA. She has trained many students who have competed regionally, nationally and also invited to compete in the World Dance Championship where her students placed in the top 10 in the World. She is incredibly passionate about teaching dance and crafting creative and unique choreography for each student.
Miss Sarina has been dancing for over 30 years and has been teaching since she was 14 years old. She was the captain of her high school dance team and was asked to perform as a Lyrical soloist at The World’s Fair and Mayfair in Cambridge, MA. When she was 21 years old she took over The Dance Center of Waltham as the owner and artistic director. She decided on moving on from that studio and continue teaching and choreographing for recreational and competitive students across Massachusetts for all ages. More recently she has been specializing in teaching the youngest of dancers, focusing on caregiver/child and preschool dance classes as well as the lead singer of the Rock-A-Baby music classes in Newton, MA. When Sarina is not dancing, she enjoys spending time with her husband and brand new baby girl.
Miss Whitney started dancing as a young girl and continued dancing throughout her high school years as a competitive dancer. She studied many forms of dance including Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary and Hip Hop. In 2009, her competitive hip hop team placed third in the country and first in the region.
Whitney has always had a passion and love for not only dance but early childhood education. She has taught dance to several after school programs along with working with children in daycare and other children's services. She enjoys working with children of all ages and instilling a positive role model in their lives.
Whitney is excited to be a part of the Shine On Community as the Hip Hop Instructor for our younger dancers.
Miss Amanda is originally from East Boston Massachusetts, where she started dancing at the age of 5. She grew up attending conventions and dancing competitively at Sheila Rosanio’s School of Dance and Gymnastics. Amanda continues to take various amounts of master classes from choreographers as well as assisting them.
Amanda has traveled on tour across the United States and internationally working for worldwide leader in dance competitions, Starpower National Talent Competition. Being on tour has given her the opportunity to travel and encounter the most amazing dancers and choreographers.
With over 5 years of teaching experience she continues to specialize in hip hop, contemporary, lyrical, jazz and acrobatics/tumble. Amanda hopes to share her creative concepts and visualizations with her students of Shine On!
Miss Samantha has been dancing for as long as she can remember. She began her training at Lisa Liston School of Dance and got her degree in dance at Salem State University. She graduated from the Dance Teacher’s Club of Boston and the American Society’s Dance Education Training Course as the valedictorian of the class, receiving the Lila Frances Viles Award. Her passion for dance really shows whether she is on stage performing or teaching in a classroom. She wants to be able to share her passion with others and can’t wait to show her love of dance to the world.
As a teacher, she wants her love of dance to be shown through her students. By having a positive environment, she will push them to be the best that they can be and love what they do. She believes that dance can be everyone’s safe place and wants to provide that for all of her students.
