Shine On Performing Arts Center Faculty
Miss Shayna has over 30 years of dance experience with a strong focus on pre-professional and competitive dance. She began her dance training under her mother, Helene Joy Chapman at the early age of 2. Her passion for dance grew immensely and by the age of 14 was selected to tour the country with the Dance Olympus faculty and performed in the closing show in each city.
By the time she was 17 years old, Shayna was teaching at the YMCA, local elementary schools as well as her mother’s dance studio - Helene Joy School of Dance. She continued to teach dance to multiple dance studios in Massachusetts for several years, building her dance resume and touching the lives of thousands of students she had the pleasure of working with. After winning a national dance competition in 2007 with her self-choreographed solo, she was awarded the "Future Star Award" and was featured in Dance Spirit Magazine.
In 2011, Shayna became the Company Director of the On Your Toes Dance & Theatre Company in Acton, MA. She has trained many students who have competed regionally, nationally and also invited to compete in the World Dance Championship where her students placed in the top 10 in the World. She is incredibly passionate about teaching dance and crafting creative and unique choreography for each student.
Shayna has recently trained and is now certified to teach Progressing Ballet Technique which certifies that she has learned the understanding of activating muscle memory to activate “turn out”, “adage movements”, “allegro”, “batterie” and controlled landings. She has certification how to break down the exercises, build the exercises, the appropriate age relevant to each exercise, use of correct muscle groups that assist each movement and how to transfer the muscle memory into dance class.
Miss Jasmine is a dancer, choreographer and performer of the arts. She has been dancing since she was three years old. She danced competitively for thirteen years, and starting choreographing and teaching the younger generation at fifteen years old at Sheila Rosanio's School of Dance & Gymnastics in Revere, Massachusetts. She teaches and choreographs competitively and also for recreation classes. Her students have received special awards as well as first place in their age category.
Jasmine graduated from Salem State University in 2019 with a Bachelor Degree in Dance. While in college she was a member of Repertory Dance Theater where she was a dancer, choreographer and served as the club's Public Relations Manager. She was also a member of Salem Dance Ensemble where she was a dancer and choreographer. Her most recent works are Creep, Cruisin', Grace and petrichor.
Jasmine's mission is to encourage aspiring dancers that nothing is impossible. She believes that everyone deserves to be seen and heard, and to have a creative outlet. Jasmine strives to build a community that provides programs that will help develop self-esteem, confidence, and respect for themselves as well as others.
Miss Whitney started dancing as a young girl and continued dancing throughout her high school years as a competitive dancer. She studied many forms of dance including Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical and Hip Hop. In 2009, her competitive hip hop team placed third in the country and first in the region.
Whitney has always had a passion and love for not only dance but early childhood education. She has taught dance to several after school programs along with working with children in daycare and other children's services. She enjoys working with children of all ages and instilling a positive role model in their lives.
Whitney is excited to be a part of the Shine On Community and share her love of dance to her students!
Miss Amanda is originally from East Boston Massachusetts, where she started dancing at the age of 5. She grew up attending conventions and dancing competitively at Sheila Rosanio’s School of Dance and Gymnastics. She studied the art of commercial dancing at Phunk Phenomenon Dance Complex and Green Street Studios. Amanda continues to take various amounts of master classes from choreographers as well as assisting them.
Amanda has traveled on tour across the United States and internationally working for worldwide leader in dance competitions, Starpower National Talent Competition. Being on tour has given her the opportunity to travel and encounter the most amazing dancers and choreographers.
With over 5 years of teaching experience she continues to specialize in hip hop, contemporary, lyrical, jazz and acrobatics/tumble. Amanda hopes to share her creative concepts and visualizations with her students of Shine On!
Miss Riley is a dance educator and choreographer from Northampton, MA. She is a 2020 graduate of Bridgewater State University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in dance education and minored in business management. After graduation, Riley worked as the office administrator and dance instructor at the Massachusetts Academy of Ballet in Holyoke, MA.
Riley recently completed a Fulbright scholarship (2022-2024) as an English Teacher in Taipei, Taiwan where she used her creative movement pedagogy to teach English as a foreign language.
At Bridgewater State University, Riley was the president of the NDEO Student Chapter and the vice president of the Dance Company while also choreographing and performing for dance department productions and completing departmental honors. She conducted research on the benefits of movement pedagogy for teaching and learning English as a foreign language through a research grant in Bali, Indonesia.
She has performed at the ACDA conference in San Jose, CA and presented research at the NDEO conference in Miami, FL. Riley values an inquiry-based learning environment where she empowers students to explore their self-identity, grow confidence, and collaborate with one another.
Miss Chiara is so excited to be joining Shine On Performing Arts Center! She is currently dancing professionally as an NFL Cheerleader for the New England Patriots. Prior to this team, she was cheering for the local ECHL Worcester Railers and the IFL Massachusetts Bay Pirates.
Chiara graduated from Mass Amherst in 2023 with a Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering and a minor in Food Science. During her time at UMass, she was a member of the Stage Crew Dance Team for 4 years and Captain of the team for 2 years.
Chiara has been dancing for 20 years and competed for several years at Paula Terenzi's Dance Complex. She has a background in styles including: Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Acro/Tumble, Lyrical, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre and Pom.
Miss Audrey embarked on her dance journey at a young age at Helene Joy School of Dance, competing regionally and nationally. She further refined her skills at Shine On, assuming roles as assistant, co-teacher, and substitute teacher during her later high school years. With extensive dance experience totaling over 13 years, she pursued a major in Dance and Performance Studies, accompanied by a minor in Educational Studies, at Roger Williams University in Rhode Island.
As part of the Dance Theatre Company, Miss Audrey demonstrated her expertise in both guest artist and student productions and was chosen to choreograph a solo for the junior and senior Showcase.
Miss Audrey is excited to be back at her "home" studio at Shine On and continuing her passion with the Shine On Community!
